The Meadowkirk Difference

Meadowkirk is a sacred and rare space.

Established as “retreat ministry,” we have never limited our openness, welcoming an array of ecumenical, and in many cases secular, entities. Although there are many outstanding retreat centers around the nation, very few successfully serve a radically diverse network of organizations while assigning the needs of each guest group among the highest of priorities.

Meadowkirk delivers a combination of hospitality, space, facilitation and content. It is what every organization needs but doesn’t “own.” Our particular beauty lies in our determination to serve others in a special place set aside for vital things like growth, education, connection, restfulness, planning, dreaming, engaging with nature, meals together, playing and praying.

Meadowkirk is further distinguished by our focus on an important niche – providing access to respite for charitable organizations and their constituencies. The need for regular renewal has probably never been more acute than it is for our peer nonprofits and faith-based groups. Our ability to help is rooted in a set of “best-at’s” that differentiates Meadowkirk from generic meeting/lodging venues:

• A remarkable setting less than an hour from Washington, D.C.

• Facilities and amenities that enable guests to be as programmed or free-form as they wish

• Long, successful guest hosting experience – comprising nearly1,000 retreats and other events over the years

• Guest affinity – understanding, empathy and love for the groups and partners we serve

• Clear operational and thematic focus – at our core, Meadowkirk “hosts retreats” and our entire offering points to a deep experience of true rest
